What is a DXF File?

DXF is short for Drawing Interchange Format or Drawing Exchange Format. It was developed by Autodesk in 1982 to enable data interoperability between AutoCAD and other programs. Nowadays there are many types and variations o DXF files. The key purpose of this format was to produce the exact representation of AutoCAD native DWG files on other applications. Some DXF types include ASTM, AAMA and others.
